Café Udupi Ruchi, opened in 2014 by S.R. Rao Sahib and Lalitha Rao Sahib, is promoted as the world’s first 100% Vegetarian café chain in the Quick Service Restaurant format, based on Instant Mixes.

They have 8 outlets in Delhi-NCR and in the South, at Avinashi highway (Pondicherry), Bangalore-Mangalore Highway,Trichy and are planning to open one in Hyderabad as well.

The restaurant runs on four business models namely kiosk, express plus, gateway and highway.

For the Kiosk model the area required is 100-220 square feet and an investment of Rs.12 to 14 lakhs; it requires about four to five people for operation and the ROI is 14-15 per cent.

The second is Express plus model, for which the area required is 600 to 900 square feet and an investment of Rs.20 to 32 lakhs; it is 10 to 12 seater. The ROI is 10-12 per cent.

The third is Cafe model and the investment required is 60 to 70 lakhs; it has more than 15 seats. The ROI is 10-12 per cent.

The fourth is the Highway model for which the investment cost lies between Rs.80 lakhs to 1.3 crores. The ROI is 9-10 per cent.
